Escape! Earthquake Pioneer

Technical Artist / AR Software Engineer / 3D Artist / Scene Design

Development of a Ministry of Education (Taiwan) VR teaching resource for junior high school students (grades 7–9), focused on earthquake survival techniques through immersive VR experience.

The game has two segments: an Instruction phase where the earthquake elf guide 'Niuniu' walks players through safety measures and hiding spots, and an Assessment phase where a realistic seismic event requires swift evacuation to safety within a time limit.

My primary responsibilities were 3D scene design and construction, collision and friction systems, and fragmentation simulation. Breakable objects used pre-damaged models that swap in at a specific acceleration threshold to simulate realistic destruction. Each object has calibrated colliders and friction settings enabling accurate cabinet/drawer interaction and realistic earthquake physics.

Collaborated with a junior high school for closed beta testing, tailoring the experience and difficulty to the target age group of grades 7–9.
